At CCHRC we like to consider ourselves to be self sufficient without access to traditional water and sewer utilities. Our potable water is delivered by a local water hauling company at $0.09/gallon and is used for drinking, dish washing, and faucets. For non- potable water we take advantage of nature’s resources by collecting rainwater and snowmelt from our roof – up to 50% of our water usage comes from nature (rain in the summer, snow melt in the spring). Our green roof includes a drain that leads to two 2,500 gallon storage tanks in the basement. Rainwater is used for the fire sprinkler system, toilets, and the sewage treatment plant.
